In 1851 Isaac Gay was a grocer at No.7 Summerlay's Place, the Royal Oak was at No.8 and was later extended in to No.9.  This picture dates from around 1916, by which time the pub occupied Numbers 8, 9 & 10 Summerlay's Place.
